Before we talk about coursework and you decide on a title for your research investigation it is important to refresh your knowledge of the key concepts.
In your orange books complete the following tasks
Genre
Task 1: How does the front cover of the magazine below establish the genre?
Consider:
Characters,
Setting and iconography,
Technical and Visual codes,
Target audience,
Mode of address.
Narrative
Task 2: Analyse the front cover of the i newspaper
Consider:
- Layout and design
- Masthead
- Sister paper
- Slogan
- Price
- Story topics
- Central image
- Positioning of audience
- Brand identity
Representation
Task 3: Give an example of a positive stereotype and write a paragraph about it.
Consider:
How the stereotype has been constructed. Consider behaviour and appearance.
Who benefits from the stereotyping?
Audience
Task 4:
You are going to produce a new television programme.
Identify a genre for your programme.
Decide on your TARGET audience?
How are you going to attract your TARGET audience?
What Channel would your programme be broadcast on and why?
Who might take an oppositional reading to your programme?
Put together a short presentation with pictures answering the questions above.
